The Rio Grande City Police Department and other city employees distributed ready-to-cook Thanksgiving meals to local families on Monday morning, November 20, at the Kelsey-Bass Museum and events center courtyard.
“This is our way of giving back to our community,” stated Rio Grande City Police Chief Noe Castillo. The meals included a full size turkey, and many of the side dishes usually included in a traditional Thanksgiving meal.
These meals were provided free of charge to families in need. The meals were sponsored by the generous contributions of the Rio Grande City Police Dept. Staff and H.E.B. Twenty meals in total were distributed at the courtyard, and some were delivered to households.
