Starr County Instructor Served as Key Note Speaker at Valley Event

STC Psychology Instructor and Starr County Campus Psychology Club Advisor,  Alexandro Sarabia,  was the Keynote Speaker at the 17th Annual Valley Scholars Banquet of South Texas College held on Friday, September 13, 2013 at the STC Pecan Campus Cooper Center.

 

“It was an honor and a privilege to inspire and motivate our new Valley Scholars students, who belong to this prestigious organization which I was part of as well seven years ago, “ said Sarabia, who is also a Licensed Professional Counselor at Doctors Hospital at Renaissance Behavioral Center. “I felt very proud to represent Starr County, the City of Roma, and the Psychology Department of STC by delivering the keynote address”.

 

Mr. Sarabia, was the Roma High School Class 2006 Valedictorian and a UTPA 2009 Top Graduate.  In his speech, Mr. Sarabia discussed the impact Valley Scholars had on him, the importance of a well-rounded, higher education, and provided college advice and words of encouragement for the new students.

 

Six of the students who were inducted into Valley Scholars are from the Starr County cities of Roma, Rio Grande City, and La Grulla.  Several distinguished STC administrators were also present at this event, including Interim Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Anahid Petrosian, Dean of Bachelor Programs and University Relations Dr. Ali Esmaeili, Dean of Business and Technology Mr. Mario Reyna, and Interim Dean of Nursing and Allied Health Mrs. Melba Trevino.
