Starr Co. Flags Continue to Fly at Half-Staff in Honor of Recent Tragedies

American, and Texas State flags across Starr County were lowered to half-staff earlier this week in honor of the “terror attack” in Boston, and continue to fly at half-staff in honor of the tragic explosion of a fertilizer plant in West Texas.

According to a Daily News article, President Obama ordered American flags at the White House and all other public buildings lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, April 16, in honor of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing. In a proclamation, Obama called the act a “mark of respect for the victims of the senseless acts of violence” in Boston on Monday.

On Wednesday night, April 16, a massive explosion of a fertilizer plant was reported at the town of West, Texas. As of the writing of this article, five to fifteen people are feared dead, and over one-hundred and sixty have been reported injured.
