Driscoll Children’s Hospital is one of three finalists participating in Reliant Gives, a charitable giving program sponsored by Reliant and NRG Retail Charitable Foundation. Reliant employees nominated a vast selection of Texas nonprofits, which were then narrowed down to three. Driscoll is the only nominee from South Texas. Voting which is open to the public, runs through Friday, Sept. 16. People can cast their votes as many times as they wish, by visiting The organization with the most votes will receive $100,000. The remaining two organizations will receive $10,000 and $5,000, which will be determined by the number of votes received. Driscoll is asking for the public’s help in submitting as many votes as possible. The winnings will go toward the building of a new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), an 18-bed unit which provides maximum support for pediatric patients dealing with acute, life-threatening illnesses.
