The RGC Main Street program, along with other city organizations, helped Rio Grande City officially kick-off its 2016 Christmas season with the lighting of the town’s official Christmas tree, on Wednesday evening, November 30.
Complementary snacks and refreshments were served, and children participated in the RGC Public Library’s holiday coloring contest, as well as drop off their letters to Santa in the event’s official “Letter to Santa” mail box.
The celebration also feature special guest appearances by Sparky the Fire Dog, McGruff the Crime Dog, a performance by the Rio Grande City High School Jazz Band, and a surprise visit from Santa himself.
The Christmas Tree, which will remain lit for the rest of the 2016 Christmas season, is located within the Kiosk on Britton Ave.
