According to a press release from the Rio Grande City CISD, members of the RGCCISD Transportation Department Emergency Evacuation Team visited with students from multiple campuses last week for their annual bus safety presentation.
According to the release, every school day, over 300,000 students are transported to and from school or school events. Remarkably, the percentage of bus accidents or emergency incidents involving school buses is very low.
This is due in large part to the countless hours of training that school bus drivers must acquire throughout the year, along with emergency evacuation trainings held at schools throughout the district. These trainings ensure that students and staff understand what to do and how to evacuate in the rare case of an emergency.
