Starr County Judge Eloy Vera presented proclamation at the Red Ribbon Kick-Off Ceremony which was held at Rio Grande City High School on Monday October 28.
At the event, Starr County Judge Eloy Vera presented the student body with a proclamation approved by The Starr County Commissioners Court declaring October 28 thru November 1 as “Starr County Drug Prevention Week”.
Judge Vera commended the RGCCISD Administration and staff for their diligent work in educating the students in a well-rounded education. Vera also praised the students for all of their recent accomplishments and spoke to them briefly on consequences of using drugs and alcohol.
The keynote speaker for the event was Coach Carlos A. Longoria who gave a compelling speech that left students mesmerized. The Annual ‘Red Ribbon Week’ Assembly is geared at educating the students of the dangers of alcohol and drug use.
