A press release from the County of Starr public relations office reports the County’s Olmitos Garcia Creek Rehabilitation Project is only weeks away from starting.
Federal Grants Director Mr. Rafael “Rudy” Montalvo, Projects Manager, Maricela Ibarra, representatives from Texas State Soil and Water Conservation Board and USDA-NRCS held a bid opening for RFP’s to begin work on the Olmitos Garcia Creek Rehabilitation Project.
The information obtained will be presented to Starr County Commissioners for approval. The rehabilitation project will ensure the safety of homes around the creek area in case of heavy rains or hurricanes. The project was made possible through a 6.2 Million Dollar Grant secured by Starr County Officials is expected to begin within the next few weeks.
