MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS CONFERENCE HELD AT LOCAL STC AUDITORIUM

On Thursday, December 7, 2017, the Starr County Campus Psychology Club of South Texas College hosted its 9th Starr County Mental Health Awareness Conference at the STC Auditorium in Rio Grande City from 4:00-5:00 pm.
Santa Pena, Claraly Pena, Perla Pena, and Mara Garcia (Directors and Counselors) from the STC Counseling and Student Disability Services Department elaborated on the services provided by their department including personal counseling, special accommodations for students with disabilities, Title IX rights for pregnant and parenting students, student success workshops, and so forth.
It was a very informative conference, open to all STC students and the community, free of charge. Over 100 people were in attendance. STC Board Member Rose Benavidez delivered opening remarks and STC Psychological Science Instructor & Club Advisor Alex Sarabia served as moderator/host. All four panelists received a certificate of appreciation for serving as Presenters. Eli Sarabia and Alex Sarabia, as well as club officers and members, would like to thank everyone who helped make this event a success.
