The Office of Congressman Henry Cuellar will host two community workshops to help Starr County residents learn about their healthcare options in the Health Insurance Marketplace. The first workshop is set for Saturday, January 18, in Rio Grande City and the second on Wednesday, January 22 in San Isidro.
The Rio Grande City workshop will be held at the South Texas College General Academics Building E, located on 142 N FM 3167, Rio Grande City, Texas, starting at 10:00 a.m. The second workshop will be held at the San Isidro Independent School District which is located on 1575 FM 1017 in San Isidro, Texas, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The workshops will feature presentations in English and Spanish from Enroll America and the American Association of Retired Persons as well as time to meet face-to-face with a certified application counselor from local health centers.
“The Affordable Care Act gives people the opportunity to purchase affordable health insurance coverage and take charge of their health care costs, many for the first time ever,” said Congressman Cuellar. “In Starr County, 34.6% of people do not have insurance, one of the highest rates in the nation. The deadline to enroll in a plan is March 31, 2014 and I encourage Starr County residents to come to this workshop to receive face-to-face help and advice about their new health care options.”
Anyone who wants to enroll in a plan should make sure to bring along all appropriate documents which include; Social Security Number (or document numbers for immigrants), Employer and income verification for every member of your household who needs coverage (such as pay stubs or W2 forms), Policy numbers for any current health insurance plans covering members of your household, A completed Employee Coverage Tool form if someone in your household is eligible for a job-based plan.
