A press release submitted to ENLACE NEWS by the County of Starr Public Relations Office reports that Pct. 1 Commissioner Abel Cantu recently worked with members of the community to revitalize the Clemente Alaniz Memorial Park in Garceno.
According to the release, the park got a complete “face-lift” to accommodate the needs of the Garceno Community. Residents are now able to enjoy the park’s newly renovated basketball courts, walking trails, BBQ pits and tables, and play areas for children.
This project was a collaborative effort by Commissioner Cantu and his staff, La Rosita Fire Department, Garceno residents and the Starr County Extension Office (Texas A & M Agrilife Extension). Commissioner Abel Cantu would like to thank all of the volunteers for dedicating many hours towards this project. “I could have not done this without all of the wonderful people that came out to help” said Cantu.
Commissioner Cantu is with volunteers who worked on the renovations.
